Although the importance and validity of reason is not hidden from anyone, there are different views on what Reason is and the scope of its application in terms of interpretation. The purpose of this article is to examine the place of reason in the interpretation of the Holy Quran from the perspective of Allameh Marifat based on a comprehensive interpretation and to state possible shortcomings in it. The main question is whether Reason can be a source in understanding the meanings of the Quran or not. This research has been prepared using the descriptive and critical method.
The results of the investigation show that the master of knowledge has considered two types of Reason: Rashid, Hakim, etc. intellect, which is capable in the field of human knowledge, and the second "human Reason" which is incapable of understanding the unseen due to its limitations.
In his narrative interpretation, he paid special attention to Reason and Ijtihad, and along with the authority of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, he considered Reason as a document and considered it the ruler of news and interpretation theories. For this reason, he considers the word "Al-Kitab" in the hadiths to be "presentation of hadith on the Al-Kitab" in a broader concept than its appearance, and it is an allusion to the authority of religion and the axioms of Reason, which include tradition and clear intellectual proof, and he considers that it is necessary for the narrations to indicate the presentation of hadith on the Al-Kitab. The validity of Reason is in interpretation. The interesting point in "Comprehensive Interpretation" is the ambiguity of the teacher's meaning of intellect.
